    3. Introduction:

    The MS Series utilizes a helical element to greatly reduce the physical length of the antenna housing. They are ideal for small products where cosmetic or functional requirements dictate a compact, aesthetically pleasing antenna package. Despite their tiny size, MS Series antennas are ruggedly constructed and able to withstand punishing environments just like our larger whips. MS Series antennas attach via an SMA or Part 15 compliant SMA connector and FME connector

    Quarter-wave or monopole antennas require an associated ground plane counterpoise for proper operation. The size and location of the ground plane relative to the antenna will affect the overall performance of the antenna in the final design. When used in conjunction with a ground plane smaller than that used to tune the antenna, the center frequency typically will shift higher in frequency and the bandwidth will decrease. The proximity of other circuit elements and packaging near the antenna will also affect the final performance.     8. Measurement Setup

    A.   Reflection Coefficient Measurement:

    n   Instrument: Network Analyzer (Agilent 8720ES).

    n   Setup:

    1. Calibrate the Network Analyzer by one port calibration using O.S.L . calibration kits .

    2. Connect the antenna under test(AUT) to the Network Analyzer.

    3. Measure the S11(reflection coefficient),Return Loss….

    B.   Pattern Measurement:

    n   Instruments: Anechoic Chamber, Network Analyzer, Quarter Ridge Horn Antenna.

    n   Chamber description: 

    1. The anechoic chamber satisfied a far-field measurement system condition with size of 8m *4m*4m.

    2. The Probing antenna is a Quarter Ridge Horn Antenna which is placed in the one side of chamber And the AUT is placed in the other side of the chamber.

    3. The antenna under test is fixed on a step rotator. We can control the rotating angle for accurate or rough measurement.
